5 Benefits of Taking Your Farm Machinery to a Service Department

In many cases, it's most advantageous to visit a service department. Keep reading to discover why! For more information or to get your farm machinery serviced, contact the experts at Farmgard

1. Own Specialized Tools

Some spreaders repairs or parts replacements are more complex and require specialized tools. A manure spreader service department will have these tools on hand. They can get the project done easier and more accurately in ways that would be hard to replicate otherwise. The average individual won't have these tools and the average independent repair shop might not either.

These specialized tools also help the service department staff get the project done quicker. Since your farm equipment will be back into action sooner, you'll get to enjoy reduced downtime!

2. Employ Trained Technicians

The service department of farm machinery sales staff has years of training and experience that other options can't rival.

First, they can diagnose issues that others would miss. This can save you from a safety situation or a more expensive repair down the road.

Second, they can address issues effectively. DIY maintenance or poorly done work from an independent repair shop can backfire and cause more issues. Bringing grader bladeorchard mulcher to the experts can end up saving you money in the long run!

Third, service department staff receive ongoing training to keep up with the latest techniques. They can offer optimized service, which reduces tractor downtime.

3. Access to Farm Equipment & Parts

Many dealerships maintain a large stock of Farm Equipment & Parts, allowing them to quickly handle a parts replacement. If they don't have the needed item, they can order it for you. In many cases, they can get the part faster or for less money than others could.
4. Check for Recalls

It's not uncommon for the farm equipment suppliers to end up with recalls, but it can be tough keeping up with these! Anytime you visit a service department, they will automatically check for recalls related to your orchard mulcher so you can stay up-to-date with any issues.

Choosing a Farm Machinery for Sale By Size

The right Farm Machinery size makes all the difference! If it is too small, then tasks take longer than they should and output suffers. If it is too large, you overspent on purchasing and can struggle to navigate the worksite. Use the following buying guide to find the ideal Farm Machinery size for your needs.

How Farm Machinery Sizing Works

Farm machinery is put into different sizing categories based on its engine horsepower. But there are some differences between Farm Machinery sales and rotary hoes for sale. For example, one company may categorize a given horsepower amount as sub-compact Farm Machinery while another may call it compact Farm Machinery. We use generic categories below, but know that the exact numbers can vary among manufacturers.

Farm Machinery Under 25 Horsepower

These models are commonly called sub-compact Farm Machinery. They handle smaller projects like working in personal gardens, tending livestock, mowing, and digging with a backhoe, and come at the lowest price point.

These Farm Machinery:
  • Weigh between 500 and 1,200 pounds.
  • Have a rear wheel under 30 inches.
  • Tend to be less than 48 inches wide.

Farm Machinery Between 25 and 60 Horsepower

Also known as compact Farm Machinery, these models are a great general-purpose option. They can tackle most tasks and are compatible with a wide range of attachments.

These Farm Machinery:
  • Weigh between 1,500 and 6,000 pounds. The weight is heavily influenced by whether the model contains a closed cab.
  • Have a rear wheel between 30 and 36 inches.
  • Tend to be between 42 and 54 inches wide.

Farm MachineryBetween 60 and 140 Horsepower

Also called utility Farm Machinery, these models are used on larger commercial agricultural projects. The extra size often comes with extra features, such as a heated cab and multiple hydraulic hookups. These models work great on farms for hay baling, brush cutting, feeding, and more. They’re also great models for municipalities and road services when paired with a boom mower and rotary cutter to mow steep banks and other awkward roadside areas.

These Farm Machinery:
  • Usually start at between 3,000 and 4,000 pounds.
  • Have a rear wheel between 36 and 60 inches.
  • Tend to be between 54 and 72 inches wide.
  • Getting the Right leaf spring Size

The perfect leaf spring size for you depends on many factors, such as
  • Where you will use the leaf spring. For example, if your property is full of obstacles like trees, boulders, or other landscaping, get a smaller Farm Machinery that can better navigate around them.
  • The amount of weight that the Farm Machinery needs to lift. Heavier loads need a bigger Farm Machinerythat offers higher PTO horsepower, and often need Farm Machinery that can hold a lot of extra ballast weight.
  • The attachments you want. Certain attachments can only be used with larger Farm Machinery, and others are designed specifically for smaller compact Farm Machinery. While some attachments can fit a wider range of equipment, there are a few that are specific – such as larger rotary cutters and tillers.

Sustainability in agriculture isn't a new concept.

It's possible to argue that it was the pioneers and advocates for spreaders and manure spreader agriculture practices in Australia that recognized the urgency of restoring the health of our ecosystems.

Climate change mitigation strategies are bringing sustainable land systems into sharp focus, with agriculture accounting for some 24% of global emissions.

Farmers get double the benefits of soil carbon farming by monetizing it

It is widely understood that carbon sequestration (or carbon capture and storage) is a key lever in mitigating climate change's impacts.

Organic farming and soil health go hand-in-hand. Increasing soil carbon is the goal of all organic management systems.

Problem with Australian soils

According to international standards, soil organic matter is low in Australia.

Australian soils are old and have poor structure, fertility, and low organic matter. This was even before the first man began farming it.

The problem has been exacerbated by historical land clearing practices and later land management practices such as over-reliance upon mineral fertilisers and aggressive cultivation, pesticide use, monocropping, and overgrazing.

Topsoil organic matter can have as little as three tonnes of carbon per hectare in Australia, which is equivalent to an average 0.5% carbon level.

Research has shown that soils require at least 4 to 5 percent organic carbon in order to be healthy and 'living'. This is due to thriving soil biology, which boosts nutrient availability as well as plant growth.

Technology improvements in soil health and soil carbon restoration

Organic farmers of Australia cooperative. Strives to improve their farm management to ensure the best soil health, which will lead to higher agricultural productivity.

Our one-pass system promotes minimal soil disturbance. We provide soil mulching, tilling and cultivation. Tests have shown that the system has produced significant increases in soil nutrients as well as massive increases in soil carbon.

There are a few options when your farm equipment has problems. You can either do it yourself, For more information about farm machinery sales, Abbey side muck spreaders and rotary hoes for sale visit our website or check our blogs now.

How Mulching can Benefit You

Mulching is a great practice, which is not only effective for the replenishment of soil, but it can also help you prevent the germination or growth of weeds in your vineyard. It also helps you create even moisture conditions and conserve water, which eventually helps you promote or enhance the growth of produce. Moreover, the mulched crop residue decomposes quickly, which is good for the prevention of pests and various diseases in the plants. If you can’t already tell, we’re here to inform you that having a mulcher in your tool kit is essential. You may be wondering what an orchard mulcher is and what’s involved in the process of mulching.

A mulcher is a machine that is designed to cut and chop the grass and other kinds of vegetation into small particles that are left on the site as mulch, leaving the site clear for various purposes in the agriculture business. Further details about the applications and benefits of mulching are provided below:

Applications of Mulchers:

Mulchers find their applications in various places. Some of those applications are listed below:

  • Mulchers can be used for the sake of land development and can be employed to clear out the gorse, broom, matagouri, tea tree, rice grass, tussock, thistles, rushes, and various other types of vegetation and small trees.
  • Mulchers are considered ideal farm equipment for the purpose of topping a pasture. A mulcher is capable of cutting the grass and weeds in a fine manner. This lets the fast-growing nutrients break down into the soil swiftly, which ultimately helps in boosting the regrowth.
  • Mulchers are capable of dealing with crop residue in a more efficient way in comparison to other machines. Mulchers will mulch the crop residue finely, enabling you to cultivate easily and quickly. Mulching the residue of crops makes the operation of cultivation equipment easier. After mulching, the stubble is buried after breaking down, otherwise, it will consume a large quantity of nitrogen from the soil.

Benefits of Mulching:

Here are some key benefits of mulching to help you understand why it is a good practice.

  • Mulching your lawn is good for the environment! Yes, you got it right! The reason is mulching the grass keeps its clippings out of landfills. According to a recent research report, waste produced because of yard trimming accounts for up to 13 percent of the total waste stream produced throughout the whole country. If we convert this percentage into the form of tonnes, it will be 28 million tonnes approximately. It should be noted that grass clippings make around two thirds of the total yard waste. Mulching allows you to leave the mulched grass on the turf, which decomposes swiftly, thus reducing your waste yard and allowing you to reduce your footprint.
  • Mulching helps you control the evaporation of moisture from the lawn. If the moisture in the soil is balanced, it will keep the temperature of the soil cooler. The optimum temperature of the soil will enhance the healing and growth of turf eventually.
Moreover, the mulched clippings which are estimated to be 85 percent of water and 5 percent nitrogen are capable of providing your lawn with natural fertilizers. Whatever your planting needs, our Stanhay precision planter range has the model to suit. The Uses of a Power Harrow

There are a number of agriculture tools that are versatile and capable of performing many other jobs in addition to their obvious jobs. One of them is a power harrow, we all know the use of a power harrow in farming. It is frequently used for seedbed preparation and weed control. However, its uses are not limited to just seedbed preparation and weed control. This versatile agricultural tool finds its uses in a variety of applications. You can use this machine on small farms and beyond. We have put together some useful information about various uses of a power harrow to help you understand its versatility. Further details are given below:

Design of Power Harrow:

Before moving on to the applications of power harrow, it is necessary to understand the basic structure and design of a power harrow. A standard power harrow consists of a series of vertical tines that are connected to the horizontal axes. The job of these axes is to tilt the soil to an adjustable level. A power harrow also features a mesh roller that is situated behind the axes. The job of this mesh roller is to further tamp the soil and seal the surface. The surface you get after using a power harrow on it is not only suitable for seed bedding purposes, but it is also suitable for various other purposes.

The Operation of a Power harrow:

The rotation of vertical counter tines allows the machine to crumble big clumps of soil and eventually offer a well-prepared and excellently levelled surface that can be used for seed bedding and various other purposes. Additionally, these tines also help you enhance soil ventilation significantly. Keeping all the things mentioned earlier in mind, it is worth mentioning that despite all this work by power harrow, there is no disturbance to the natural composition and structure of the soil, which makes it a really useful tool.

A power harrow also offers the option of various attachments, such as multiple types of rear rollers or accessories. These attachments can help you achieve the working depth and finishes of a surface according to your own requirements. There are two types of power harrows; fixed power harrows and folding power harrows. Modern power harrows offer long term productivity without consuming too much power.

Uses and Applications of Power Harrows:

You will now be fully aware of the design, working, capabilities, and usable attachments of a standard power harrow. Now it is time to look beyond these typical applications, once you start thinking beyond, you will figure out plenty of applications for a power harrow. We have also listed some of them below to help you:

  • A power harrow can be used for the maintenance and upkeep of racetracks for bikes, autos, equines.
  • It can also be used for the upkeep of a rodeo arena.

You can use a power harrow NZ wide or Australian wide for the surface preparation of a construction site and Medium duty offset discs ideal for all agricultural and cropping operations.

The Basics of Mulching

Everyone loves a lush green lawn in their backyard, however, just like most things in life, you’ve got to put in the work to reap the rewards. There are various factors that can affect the quality of your grass, which can result in patchy and mossy lawn. The use of fertilisers can definitely help you improve the quality of grass in your lawn, however, it is an expensive affair, and you may end up spending a considerable amount of money. The use of mulcher or mulching mower can be a great alternative to the extensive use of chemical fertilisers. Moreover, using it is quite simple, you don’t have to collect the clippings of grass in a catcher box or bag like you do while mowing your lawn with an ordinary lawn mower. Mulching mowers are quite effective in shredding the grass finely. In addition to shredding the grass finely, these mulching mowers leave the finely shredded remains of mulched grass on the turf, which efficiently work as organic fertiliser.

mulcher

This organic fertiliser will provide the soil of your lawn with all essential and useful nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen. According to a research study, it was observed that just because of mulching, the rate of root formation of grass considerably improved. Moreover, the respiratory activity of soil organisms increased by 20% to 40%. As a result, the grass grows swiftly and is more dense and green. Moreover, mulching reduces the number of weeds. Now that you understand the benefits of mulching your lawn, a question may arise in your mind: how do I mulch my lawn? Don’t worry, we have gathered some useful tips to help you mulch your lawn properly and make it more beautiful with denser and greener grass. Further details are given below:

Mulching Guide:

Here are some tips to help you mulch your grass effectively and efficiently:

  • Make sure the grass is not too long while you are mulching it. This is because the clippings of your grass will be long, and these longer clippings can easily clump together. These clumped clippings will take much longer to break down into the lawn. Moreover, these clumps can also affect the performance of your mower. Therefore, it is necessary for you to take somewhere between a quarter to a third of the height of grass for each cut of the grass while mulching it.

  • Regular mulching is the key to making sure the grass in your lawn looks denser. Regular mulching means mulching up to 3 times in the period of two weeks when your lawn is growing swiftly. You will save a considerable amount of time while doing this because you won’t need to empty the grass catcher box every time.

  • Make sure that your lawn is free of extensive moisture and the grass is dry. If the grass is wet, the small clippings of mulched grass can easily clump up together because of the excess moisture. These clumps can build up below the deck of your mower. Thus, these clumps won’t break down into your lawn easily and quickly.

If you fail to mulch the grass in your lawn on a regular basis, our tip is to make use of a separate mulching kit to cut the grass to the height that is suitable for proper mulching. This will help you shape your lawn quickly. For more information about Abbey side muck spreaders and mowers visit our website now.

Upkeeping the Beauty of Your Lawn

We know it is quite difficult for people to upkeep the beauty of their lawn during winter, especially as getting out in the cold with your mower is not very appealing. Your lawn will have to deal with problems such as snowfall, ice, extensive moisture because of extremely wet weather, and potentially storms. These issues may cause you to look at your lawn in dismay during winter and the early summer days because it will no longer look green and lush like it did back in the peak summer days. You will also witness a frequent amount of weeds affecting the beauty of your once beautiful lawn. However, we are here to tell you that making your lawn beautiful again is not that tough, and you can do a number of things to upkeep its beauty. We have put together some effective tips to help you do just that and enjoy the beautiful appearance and landscape of your lawn. Further details are given below:

Get Rid of The Debris:

Once you are set up to restore the beauty of your lawn, the first thing you need to do is clean up the debris. Storms in winter may have caused a lot of scattered tree branches, leaves, and other types of debris. Make sure to get all this debris cleaned, once you are done with that, you will be able to see the actual damage done to your lawn, and especially the grass on your lawn. Moreover, don’t forget to check out the condition of plants and shrubs. Some of them must have failed to survive the extreme conditions during winter, so it is time to remove those plants and shrubs. Now trim the branches of plants and shrubs that were able to survive extreme winters to help them to grow even during the spring.

Mulching is Necessary:

We advise you to mulch your lawn throughout the entire year if possible, but in spring and summer, it becomes highly essential. You can’t ignore the need to mulch your lawn at least a couple of times every 14 days. Once the winter is over, don’t hustle, give the soil some time to warm up. If you want the same beautiful lawn like the one you had before the winter, it is better to stay patient till mid spring. However, if the weather is extremely mild, you can kick off the mulching right away. You need to make sure that you have a dedicated mulching lawn mower in your inventory for this purpose.

Aerate the Soil and Reseed:

Now that you’ve gotten rid of all debris and understand the mulching process, it is time to move towards the redevelopment of your beautiful lawn. For this purpose, make sure to aerate the soil to help it capture the essential nutrients and beneficial microorganisms from the atmosphere. After aerating the topsoil of your lawn turf, you can move on to reseeding the grass.

Feed and Water Properly:

Once you reseed the grass, you enter the phase in which you have to take substantial care of your lawn and ensure the availability of things it needs. Make it a habit to water your lawn in the morning every day. If you don’t have time for this, our tip is to install sprinklers and set them to go off every morning or night to ensure your lawn is getting the care it deserves. Moreover, ensure substantial feed of your lawn, even if you have to make use of chemical fertilisers for some time as well. Additionally, mulching a couple of times every 14 days will also help you provide your lawn with an organic fertiliser in the form of degradable grass clippings that are converted into essential nutrients like potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen for speedy growth of the grass in your lawn.
